Why the arts?

The artistic curated contexts and practices should be bonded by pleasure and wonder not just to the wide exceptionality of a performance happening in an art space but to also to the simplicity of the encounter with people, exchanging points of view and supporting the feeling of being valid and present across the world, no matter the social or health condition, but creative. Many art experiences walks through complexity by opening a meeting point in between how you feel and the conditions you walk through

Alzheimer Project
This project was born in 2016 by the meeting of Matteo Marchesi and the psychologist Dott.Stefania Becciu, specialized on people with Cognitive Deseases.

Its core belongs to both an artistic and health care vision, where, on one side, there's a crescent amount of people suffering of dementias and Alzheimer already in young age that can offer a shifted point of view on relationship and expression strategies.

On the other side is clear the need of caregivers to rediscover proximity, touch and perception, not finalized to external needs but as a personal and primal need to be present, that we all share.

Since then the project has been developed in 3 directions: "IN TOUCH", "PRESENT PRINCIPLES" and "FOUND BACK BODY" The future steps are willing to reach directly people with diseases, with and without family members, and generating a quality cooperations with heath-care institutions and organisations.

WELL-BEING IN ARTS

1
in touch

First experience of a workshop with family members of people with Cognitive Deseases, born by the collaboration of Matteo and Dott.Stefania Becciu, centered on body perception, improvisation tools, waight shifting and touch, alternating with talk sessions. The experiences involved groups in Dalmine and Bergamo (Lombardy) connected to Ass. Primo Ascolto, and in Serrenti (Sardinia) supported by Ass. Alzheimer Serrenti.

2
present principles

Joins the duo Marchesi-Becciu also Alberto Ceresoli, director of Art.Ass. Interno13 and curator of the art gallery Vaku Project Space in Bergamo where he invites the artist Flavio Pacino with his sculpture/installation "on adaptation 05".

There the families involved, stroked by the desease within their members, with the support of Fondazione Carisma and Fondazione Comunità Bergamasca, had the chance to interact with the artistic installation, rediscovering how rythm, contact, senses and presence can be expressive tools in a context where words can be confused or lost.

3
found back body

Rephrasing and reviewing the previous experiences, Matteo opens two new labs in Bergamo, in the exhibition spaces of Polaresco Youth Center, and in Dalmine, involving the Association Primo Ascolto, sharing practices and games to play with perception and movement, to get more physical consciousness and refresh non verbal communication. This time those workshops are open not just to families looking for relief but also to professional caregiver to improve their skills
